Smoothing powerband on '00 Rm250

I think this is the right section now since the dirt bike stuff falls under a subforum.

Anywho.

I have a 2k Rm 250 and this thing runs like a raped ape, but I rather have it run like a sweet lovin' gorrilla if ya know what I mean.

It has damn near no bottom end but when that b!tch is on the pipe it's awn the fawkin pipe!

It has a stock bore w/ wiesco pistion, uni filter, fmf fatty, fmf power core and that's it. Power valve is set at 1/4 turn.

I'd love to get it to run more like a newer YZ. The bottom is good and the transition to power band is smooth.

Now it runs really good and hell it even idles. I'll get the jetting specs if that's neccessary.

What I'd like to know is what I need to change to smooth it back out. Is it a pipe thing? Reed thing, porting etc. what controls this? I'll sacrifice power for control at this point.

I've been on 2 strokes my whole life and never had a problem until I started this whole street bike game. I'm one more issue short of getting a cr450!

thanks for any help you have for me!
