no its just a little switch on the end of the shifter (still on the collum) press it up to up shift or down to down shift.............And no its not DUMB for a diesel its for towing similar to the new autos in 18 wheelers you can hold it in a gear if your pullin a hill or down shift for pulling a hill or down shift through all the gears to slow down when your stoppin

Too much weight and not enough room for that car. Throw it in an old monte carlo. Check youtube for videos of other swaps.
