Kryptonite Chains In Useless Shocker!

Except, of course, it's not a shock at all - at least it's not if you've seen this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC3hFr8p2ck

Now, in Kryptonite's infinite wisdom, they've decided to publicly claim this video is fake. Not a very bright thing to do. They're now also refusing to answer questions on how they can say this when ITV has just produced a program called 'Gone In 60 Seconds' where they destroy the Kryptonite in a mere 11 seconds. Kryptonite claim to be working with ITV on this program - this is a lie. ITV have asked for comments regarding the appalling results of their test. Kryptonite have refused to answer...

So, here are my questions for Kryptonite - as the maker of the video they claim is fake I'd like to know.

Let's get a few facts out in the open shall we?

Firstly, 'the people making the fuss are our competition' isn't in fact entirely true. I am not an employee of Almax, nor is Zanx (the man in the pink shirt), nor is ITV (the second largest broadcaster in the UK after the BBC).

I'm surprised you claim to not know that considering Zanx is the man most responsible for publicising the debacle of round keys and their ability to be opened by a felt-tipped pen. You do remember that debacle, don't you? After all, it cost your company a rather large amount of money when it refused to accept the responsibility of selling useless 'security' devices to the customers you claim to care so much about. Of course, it's been publicly known since 1992 that they were useless, but it took Zanx's crusade before anyone in the industry cared - and even then, it was only because of the legal action being brought against people like Kryptonite that anything changed.

Wasn't it also a stipulation in the court's verdict that you must put a link to http://www.kryptonitesettlement.com/ on your home page? Oh yes, there it is - page 7, point 3: 'agreement at www.kryptonitesettlement.com with a link to said website on Kryptonite's website home page'. And where have you put it? Hidden behind a hidden link in your FAQ page, which doesn't link to the site at all. In my country that's called contempt of court.

You also claim Zanx, on the forum What Mountain Bike, admits the chain isn't a Kryptonite. Let's have a look at the full quote, shall we, rather than your edited version? 'Indeed, that looks like a Luma and went ka BAM like a Luma. I don't think the Kryptonite would have put up that much resistance.'

So, your argument is that Zanx is saying it's not a Kryptonite because it performed better than a Kryptonite chain should do? Interesting sales pitch...

Bizarrely, it turns out you are partly right - the chain on the video is in fact now sold in the UK as a Kryptonite New York chain (I discovered tonight). Definitely a Kryptonite product.

And as you've mentioned the ITV program 'Gone In 60 Seconds - A Cycle Crime Wave'. ITV bought a Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Chain, which was cut in just 11 seconds. Your suggestion that you're working with them is not actually true, is it? They contacted you for a reaction to the results of their tests. That's not 'working with' by anybody's definition.

And that brings us back to your claim that the video has been in someway faked, and therefore that my company are responsible for trying to defraud the general public.

If you cannot show any factual evidence to back up this outrageous claim then you will remove it from your blog or legal action will be taken.

[update]

I've just heard from the producer of the ITV show you're supposed to be working with.

He was not happy that you've been publicly claiming to be working with them when all they asked for was a response regarding the inability of your chain to resist attack from croppers for more than 11 seconds.

He also mentioned that you haven't had the common decency to reply.

Seems to be something of a habit for you, doesn't it...

well the truth is that any lock can be opened if the bolt cutters are big enough. those cutters are huge. no awerage joyrider joe is carrying those kind of cutters in his back pocket.
