Question gsxr 750 worth buying?

i was considering to buy this '1997 Suzuki 750 gsxr from a private seller.
Its never been layed, good upkeep and has 34K Miles
the owner is a grad from mmi, so he knows his stuff, he did all his own work on it.
(also: has orange rims, chrome and after market pipe and he re jeted the engine.) - Hes asking 2800$

I - the possible buyer have no idea about mechanics on bikes.
So im asking you good fellas for help
Is the bike worth 2800?
and how hard/how much would it cost to replace Throttle cables?

Im considering to take some MMI classes in the near future however for the time being, i know nothing about bikes. So all the work that will need to be done, i'd be doing by reading a manual, taking it in for service or asking the forums

Also, i know this is kind of an overkill for a first bike, but what do ya say?

Re: gsxr 750 worth buying?

Given thats a lot of miles I wouldnt say thats a bad deal as long as it hasent been raced or stunted. try to talk him down to like 2Gs.

Hondas are praised because they are blessed by the Honda Gods and last forever.

Re: gsxr 750 worth buying?

get that **** 2800 around this area you'll be lucky to find a beat up f2 or f3 for that price.. maybe a stunted out f4i or stunt bike
but if youre lookin for street bike
i'd say get it thats not bad.
but if you dont know much about bikes get it checked out by someone who does. you dont wanna get jewed.

if its in good shape then yeah get it. i love those body styles. they are a classic and i think they are by far the best looking bikes on earth. alot of em are beat to hell. finding one in good shape is a commodity.

Theres less than 1% of the population that rides bikes out here. So the chances of that are low, people around the area know what i mean when i say its hard to find bikes. Unless their brand new...

I dono, seems like a good deal but i want to get it checked out by Metro Motorsports before i do the final deal.

I hope for the best, damn loans are expensive lol

Re: gsxr 750 worth buying?

You don't HAVE to rejet every season. You CAN for more performance, to make the fuel delivery beter suit the temperature. Hot air is less dense than cold air, there fore you need less gas in a hot climate because you have less air. You dont have to, trutrh is you probably wont notice the performabce difference. Unless its like sub zero in the winter, and 130 in the summer.
