GSXR Vs. CBR, Who has rode both and which do you prefer?
Im thinking about getting a newer bike and Ive always had my eye on a 929rr. Ive always liked Hondas but lately most of my riding group rides gixxers and they like them. Im debating on 929rr,954rr or gsxr750,gsxr1000. years 2000+. So which is more comfortable riding, which is more stable in curves, which is better balanced on one wheel, etc, etc. Also I am worried about oil pickup. it seems that the gixxers require a diff pickup where as Hondas you can just over fill.

ive riden just about every bike out there.....00 750, 97 srad 600, 04 gsxr 1000, 954, 1000rr, 600rr, f4i, f4
and i have to say that honda is the better bike. i have 2 750's and im looking for a salvaged f4i now. i had an f4i and sold it, wish i still had it.

my experience has been the gixxer is a little more comfortable. honda will handle better. So question is, are you going to ride it all the time, for long distances? or just occasionally? Also, Honda parts are a little more expensive (atleast in dallas) than gixxer parts.

I recently sold my gsxr 750 and picked up a 929. Personally, i think that the 750 was a better stunter. it is more predictable and easier to control on one wheel. the 929 is very snappy and it requires a little better throttle control. handling wise id go with the 750, but the 929 definately runs stronger.
Get the newer gixxer. They are easier to work on and the parts swap over MANY years and models. Honda is not as easy to work on and try getting parts, good luck. Go with the model that is proven for years. the 929/954 is a has been and has no staying power in the market. The gixxer has been around since 1985 and still is the bike to have in 2005. Honda cant even come close to that!

Well now that its pretty much a toss up what about the Oil pickup problem im hearing about in the gixxers. They say you can just over fill the Honda but not the gixxer. Im not into slow 12's and stuff but I do like to rock wheelies quite a bit and before I looped my f4 I was getting really good at long wheelies. I just dont want to be rocking a long wheelie and have the motor blow up on me.

As for what the 954 has, I put a Erion Racing exhaust on it, a K&N Air Filter, and a DynoJet PCIII. I haven't put it on a dyno yet. I'm not interested in comsmetic stuff, well other than frame sliders I guess. It it doesn't make it faster or handle better I'm not interested. All I really want now is a steering damper. :YEAH
