I was just putting a new set of grips on and my buddy thought I was nuts because I use gas to put my grips on. I just fill the grip with gas, pour it out and slid them on. They just about fuse to the bars. Does anyone else use this method? How do you keep the grips on your bikes? Just interested to see if I really am crazy!!

Back in the day, gas would be fine. But gas eats at some of the newer materials. I use hairspray or bar glue that came with my BBR kit for my 50.

 

I always use spray paint. Just gotta get em on quick before it dries.

 

i just use a compressed air

 

I always used the air compressor for my bmx bike back in the day. Doesn't leave any residue, like paint. Also soapy water works pretty good, but air is the best because it inflates the rubber and makes it go right on.

I've always used hairspray since i was a little kid on bicycles and dirtbikes, used it on my streetbikes too and just put a new set of grips on my 4 wheeler a few days ago with it. slides right on and dries quick

 

Yep, I got some new grips and the guy at the shop said to use black spray paint. I was like, what???? And he said that that was what he used on all of his bikes. I asked him why the color mattered, and he said it had somthing to do with the chemical make up of the black paint. I thought he was just trying to screw with me, but he was right, I tried red spray paint first, and it didn't stick. I don't quite understand it either , but it works.

I used to use hair spray.. But I have been bald for 2 years now... So i just use Krylon clear coat spray paint.. Supa stick!
