186mph?????? speedo problems
Re: 186mph?????? speedo problems
To the best of my knowledge, only the Hayabusa is "limited" by the timing. Something else sounds funky if the bike won't read over 186. A TRE does make the bike think it's in 5th all the time, thus not retarding the timing.
Re: 186mph?????? speedo problems
yeah.. but the speedo only reads to 186. There is no *restrictor* limiting it to a top speed of 186 on the gsxrs. The speedo just doesnt display any higher than 186.

Re: 186mph?????? speedo problems
STVA is the secondary throttle valve actuator.. the 00 and 01 750s werent built on to the throttlebodies like the rest of the FI gixxers and the STV was controled by cables that ran down to the STVA.. Those gixxers have problems with those cables fraying and making the bike run like crap. If you ever get a c28 error on an 00 or 01 750 its the STV cables.

Re: 186mph?????? speedo problems
The valve in the exhaust is just that, an exhaust valve, like Yamaha's EXUP. It supposidly give better low end, but really it probably is more for noise emission. I like the way they run with it, better low-end.
Re: 186mph?????? speedo problems
yep. its just for better low end. Getting rid of it or putting on a full system that eliminates it gives you more power on the top end but kills the low end. Full systems are not good for stunting for that reason.
Same goes for bikes that dont have that valve. Putting on a pipe that gives you more flow kills the bottom end off a little.

Re: 186mph?????? speedo problems
unless u buy a power commander and have a custom map put in .
ive seen a almost perfect dyno chart from alot of different bikes.
smooth increase of power all the way up.

Re: 186mph?????? speedo problems
Thats not always true.. most of the time it is not. At least that is the way it is with a full system. Granted sometimes you do get gains through the whole spectrum but usually you lose low end. even with a custom map.
By low end I am speaking of 1K rpms to 4K rpms. Full systems are engineered for racers. Racers and exhaust manufacturers dont give a rats *** about power below 5K rpms. Neither do most tuners.

Its All About The Smooth Power Curve.
With A Power Commander You Can Advance The Timing To Make Up For Lost H.p In The Low Rpm's.
I've Spent Days At The Dyno Workign With The Owner And Learned Alot.
I Can Go On For Days About **** Like This If My Fingers Would Type All I Have To Say
