yep sounds good.. how far do the ones you have stick out of the mids?

 

1 1/2 tops when I lay the bike on the side the covers also touch. not enough to brake them in a controlled landing but in a all out crash I don't trust them

 

yeah thats what I thought,whats the total lenghth of the sliders? so I wont get any that are too short

 

the ones I'm getting special are 6 inches. I wouldn't go less than 4

 

well it looks like the special made ones are the way to go then....all the ones I see are little ones like under 4" they would be worthless

 

on the 900RR they are but if you have the 929 or 54 they would be ok

 

On a 929 (and I think a 954) the left side case cover sticks way out. I had 6" sliders and the left side was very close to hitting. When I dropped it the case scraped a little.

 

get a cage if your running either the 929, 54 or 900


best investment, i've seen a 929 smash the cover and ruin the crank.... ruined the bike

 

When I bought my bike the case was busted and the crank was bent. Had to replace the motor. Now I have a cage but it hasn't been tested yet. I got it for free because the guy used my bike to prototype with. It's similar to the FI cages but it's fully welded and the pieces that go to the subframe come straight off the slider part and are tubing not flat bar. He's selling them for $200. He also has gixxers and R1's.
