Speedos??

I want advice from you guys who've pulled off the fairings and put small headlights on.
I want to know what speedos you've used (preferably cheap)
Mine is too big to try tuck behind a small headlight cover.
Was looking at this one but dont think it would easily suit a earlier model Blade.

Re: Speedos??

any magnetic push bike LCD speedo that records over 100kph ... approx $50+

CatEye BC400 is a good one... silicon the magnet inside the rotor rivet and silicon and cable tie the reader to the inside of the fork leg... tie the cable up the leg to where you mount the display... cheap, easy, small & effective!

I have been using one from **** Smith on all my bikes since '01.
If you ride at night, just wire up an auto LED and mount it so it lights up the speedo without reflecting into your eyes.

I was using one i got from Tandy.
just lock wired abd zip tied it in.

I looked a getting one with a light inbuilt but they were about the $200 mark and apparently they use the battery up very quickly

Anything earlier than a 98 Blade and you'd be in trouble dude, but the 98 ones are nice and thin

Does that mean a later model one will work (like the one in the link?)
I just want it to look pretty stock and if this one fits then why not. I just figured that the plug might be the same.

Maybe, you can only plug it in and find out , have you tried the wreckers for a 98/99 speedo unit? make sure you sound cheap if you ring them, don't want them to add the magical 400% markup wreckers like to put on things. esp if they know you need it.

If it doesn't fit I have a buyer if you want to sell it. (for the 929 Dash)

Hows this from our local wrecker:

Went in there asked for some rubbers which seperate the tank and the frame, normally the fuel tank sits on these....we searched around found 2 in ok condition....these fu**ers tried to charge me $7ea for these, New they are only $4ea....what the? as one would expect I told him I could buy them new for $4ea, what did they do....mate hows $3.50 sound.... I gave him my and walked out, I found that Old Bicycle tyres are Much Much cheaper and work about 50000 times better.

LOL metros in syd try that on all the time...One time they had a go at trying to charge me $160 for a $50 part..that did not work out to well for them as I got a $270 for $3.80 ( had $3.80 in my pocket pulled it out counted it and told him I was only paying that much for my 600RR tail light) in the same day..
