How I haul my quad... (pics)

Here's a new platform I built over the weekend to haul my quad around. My problem was that I was hitting my wheel wells pretty hard in order to get up and over them.... causing my to slam into the back of the bed, denting it. With this platform, I now have a smooth surface to ride up onto and I can store stuff underneath. The platform is actually wide enough to hold an MX set up if I were to widen my quad in the future.

I put a removable 4x4 in front of the rear window so that I don't drive right through it. I also used 4x4's for the feet of the platform and 2x8's on top of those. There's some 2x4's running across the width of the bed for added strength. Driving onto it seemed weird at first, but it's very easy to load and unload. The quad doesn't move around at all. I have plans to paint the platform black so it doesn't look like such an eye sore.

LMAO! That's actually a pretty good joke for someone who isn't allowed to watch PG13 movies cause his Mommy will ground him.

Re: How I haul my quad... (pics)

sketch! i have a sonoma quad cab with the same bed, and also have a yellow 400ex i was having the same problems the tires were to wide to fit between the wheel wells and two narrow to set ontop of them! so i built a platform too! but mine is only accross the wheel wells, so the front tires are up and the backs are down in the bed, it looks nice siting at that angle and you dont have to worry about it sliding off!

$135 for materials and I did all the work myself. Project took about 5 hours with a jig saw and drill. I hardly notice the added weight. You can see the truck squat a little, but not much. Yes, I have a trailer.... but I think it weights more than my truck

It is... but it's very easy to drive up onto. I actually wheelie up if you can believe that.... but as soon as the front lifts up when I reach the top, I'm on the brakes so it's only a small wheelie

You might consider adding some sort of traction material on yours ramps....I have come close from slidding of ramps after a good trail ride because my tires are muddy and wet. Just a suggestion.....espcially for wood.

Re: How I haul my quad... (pics)

looks good. Wouldn't you want to sink it down to just above the wheel wells so that the quad sits in the bed, not ontop of it. Regardless. Thats some McGyver **** right thurr!

Yeah.... I agree. Haven't had a problem yet, but I plan on adding shingles to get some extra traction.

It's actually as low is it can go. Plus I wanted room to store extra rims and tires under there for when I get my street set up for stunting.
