teach:tire question

sup...
right now i am using metzler MEZ4 tires...

right now the sizes are ,

front-120/60-zr17
rear-180/55-zr17

i am going to upgrade my tires to the mezlerM1

My question to you(or anyone) is if i go bigger in the rear to 190/50- will i have to change the front tires size and will it affect my handling??? what are the pros and cons for going " bigger"

any info would help

BTW..i ride a 99 900rr and have upgraded the front rim from 16" to 17 ".

thanks...

yo...

a larger size in the rear does not affect the front whatsoever....a larger (or wider) rear will affect turn in. in other words, your bike wont want to 'fall' or turn into the corners as quick...it is debateable whether you will notice the difference or not. highly unlikely that it will affect you so much that you will not like it though....on the other hand, i would stay with the manufacturer tire size recommendations: and that is a 180 on the rear for real RR's...as for wheelies, if you run a bigger tire, it will have to fold more for the bead to be on the rim, creating a 'rounder' profile than say, a 170....i usually run a 180 on the rear, and if i have one a 170 or a 190....

if i were you, i'd stick with a 180...you KNOW what it does already and you cant be dissapointed...

my two cents, i'm sure there are many other valuable inputs...
