I want to have a streetbike.... ya know, one I can cruise around town with. I have a 98 RR (completely legit btw) and it's my stunt bike. It really has no huge problems and it's mostly cosmetic issues. I have some options.... maybe someone can give me some input.
Should I...
1. Keep my current 900RR as my stunt bike and buy a mint used 929?
or
2. Build a stuntbike using 1/2 my current 900RR and a salvage frame/motor, etc? Over the winter, make my current 900RR mint. It does have a solid frame & motor, polished frame, chrome rims, etc. This bike "could" be mint after some minor TLC.
or
3. Make my current 900RR sell-able. Get a few bucks and use the money to buy a mint 929. I would use the 929 as my stunt bike by adding a cage, 12 bar, etc, but I would keep it as street legal as I can.
or
- ???? You got any options? I need to continue saving $$ to buy my house.

Option 1 for me. look @ it this way. It might cost a few bucks more. But is it not worth it? heh you are paying for convenience. If you enjoy playing in the garage maybe Option 2 is as better decision

Then maybe about $1500 in TLC to my current 900RR. I would need to find a set of plastics and tank. Get them painted w/ graphic kit. Then odds and ends.... bar ends, grips, pegs, rims straightened, polished frame shinned up, and just random small **** to make it perfect. I figure another $1500 there.
So for about $3000, I could have 2 "decent" bikes.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking also.... I can get my hands on a mint 929 for 5,000. A friend of mine has one and wants to unload it. It has like 7,000 miles on it and needs nothing. For an extra 2,000 (vs. the 3,000 it may cost me to build a stunt bike & make my 900R street) I could have 2 awesome (solid) bikes... and do nothing.

Option 2. Been through the house thing. IF you are serious, as few toys as possible. You can always get them back. Thats where my Hawk, then my fiddy, then my 954 all went. Would have had more money cause you always lose a little on a sale.
thats why I now ride the dented 919. There was no arguement in my wanting to keep that.

I would go with option 1.
I have 2 bikes. both are stunt bikes, and I wish they were road legal. Just have 1 stunt bike, and 1 road bike. Thats the way to roll. I switch off stunting both my bikes, but really only have time to ride one.
1 bike for cruisin the streets.
1 bike for stunting.
If I had all the money in the world, I have would have both my stuntbikes road legal. But it's so hard to keep up with that ****.
Lights are the biggest pain in the ***.
both of mine don't have any.

Re: Opinions
i say it depends on how much road riding you are going to do and how close you are to buying a house.
option one sounds like the best bet to me for some serious road riding. its a newer bike, with less miles. so for a little more money you have a newer ride that you can always sell, along with your clean title 900RR to get out of it.
BUT option 2 would definately be cheaper, at least initially. the only thing i see about buying salvage bikes is once you own them, it can be a bitch to sell it. not alot of people want to buy a salvage bike and the ones that do would want it cheap. so youd have to get a smoking deal on the 900 and or want to keep it for a long time to have it benefit you in the long run. IMO.
my guess is that buying the 929 may cost a little more up front, but would ultimately give you more options in the end. you could always sell either bike rather quickly and stunt the other if you needed to. and youll probably be less likely to have to nickle and dime the 929.

Re: Opinions
Bri, the one problem I see with buying the 929 aside from the added cost is you might end up just stunting it after awhile. I'm not sure how big of a piece the RR is, but im sure the 929 will feel a bit nicer all around
John
p.s. you still riding?? if so hit me up, no one around here does anymore
