anything that takes you concentration of the road for 1/10th of a second, because you dont have a helmet on.

Not everyone wears a full-face helmet nor is that a difference within the law in question. Full-face helmets are fairly new and primarily worn by sportbike riders ONLY. You point is fairly mute.

Besides, eyewear would be required and would serve the purpose you mention.

and most people that wear no helmet do not wear "proper" eye wear. point is very valid...

like i said assinine.... if you think the only reason for a helmet is like a seat belt... ie... only has a place/use during the accident , then you need help

Nope. Now you're classifying. This has nothing to do with those idiots who choose to break the law and wear crappy eyewear. Proper eyewear is proper eyewear. If you're wearing a DOT open face helmet and proper eyewear, currently you're legal. Now, take the open face helmet off and there is absolutley no difference in performance.... hense your mute point.

I'm not sure of the stats but anyone who wears open face helmets seem to have no problem... and neither does the police / law makers. This comes down to making it manditory to cover your squash. Same as covering your belly w/ a belt.... neither effect operation but both COULD possibly effect the outcome of an accident.

Bri

not classifying anything.. generalizing that most idiots that make the poor decision to not wear a helmet.. wear nothing at all... and its a fact that a better riders also tend to be better dressed... boots gloves helmet etc.. its tied in to competence and confidence... having an impact yet again on performance...

and if your arguement is "fullface helmets increase rider awareness" then you may be right but that point has nothing to do with the thread.

sure it does... wearing a helmet cuts out certain chance/type of accident that may occur because of not wearing... be it the motorcylist or a cager.... i.e.. bad judgement, because of less awarness or a non helmet distraction whatever.. causes a lapse in judgement.. and you get on the brakes or swerve..., now you dont even go down.. but someone else may have dodged you, and ended up off the road or in minor/major fender bender..

lets look at the majority of people that wear open face helmets...

cruise bike riders.... well drivers i guess.. because you cant reall ride one of those things...

and pretty boy posers with their sportbikes and faces just to damn pretty to be hidden behind a full helmet...

yeah i dont see either of them getting into accidents that affect only them....

Those idiots you're talking about don't belong on bikes to begin with and the difference of a helmet sure isn't going to help them. There are tons of people who drive cars in the same position.... they just don't belong on the road.
