Need help with ordering new sprocket

I call Sprocket Specialist today to order a new front and rear sprocket. While talking with the Lady she told me that I can not go down any teeth in the front on the 954RR because of the casing but on other bikes you can.

On the rear my bike is 43 stock. She told me going +3 in the rear is equal to –1 in the front. The only make a 45 in steal for the rear but go up to 71 in aluminum. Do I go with aluminum even though it is much weaker?

I was looking to go –2 front and +4 rear but since I can not change the front sprocket I am going to go +10 in the rear to 55 teeth.

What chain should I get 525, 530, etc….???

Anything I should consider when just changing the rear by so much?

Do you recommend sprocket specialist and/or do you recommend a different company???

TEACH C6 will become famous soon enough
sprocket specialists are good, and the aluminum will last a season i would say...i have my +7 from last year still an dit is wearing well.

as for 954 not being able to go down 1, i think that is stupid...call naults and ask them....i doubt there is a prob though...

up ten is ALOT....i'm down one and up seven rightnow and i love it but i am in 6th gear almost all the time when cruising, and that is around 40-60 mph...the highway sucks....

i'd recommend something like down one and up three, or just up five....do it in increments or it will seem unrideable to ya,

its the ratio of front teeth to rear teeth that matters. in general, -1 up front is almost equal to +3 in the rear. aluminum sprockest will wear quicker than steel. if you stunt and dont want to change sprockets often, i would recommend sticking with the 530 chain size your bike came with. 520 chains are lighter and can be stronger than your stock 530 (racers use them all the time), but the smaller face size of the sprockets will wear quicker, and will more likely shear the teeth off the aluminum rear sprocket in time, especially from stunting.

up +10 in the back! you gonna stunt that 954 or ride it. I know those things are anything but starving for power.

Im down 2, up 7 (13 teeth total) and like teach says the highway sucks. just barley passing traffic i think it reads like 135 mph.

Unless you are gonna be rockin slow wheelies or 12's, i think +10's a little extreme for that bike.

and my boy rob has a 2002 954 that he went down 1 tooth in the front - made a HUGE difference w/ the bike.
