stiffer springs or I-shock/xr70 forks

Ok everybody ...I have decided that I'm gonna get some better suspension. I rode my friends bike with a works shock and i need something.

I figure the stiffer shock and fork springs w/ the bushings would be my cheapest option. Does anybody know where i can get springs rated for a 135lb person instead of the ones that are for 200lb people. Also, if i get the springs that push up the front end 1in would it make the fork legs bend real easy? If i decide to do this it would be about $110 or so.

How much better is an I-shock than just a stiffened up stock shock? Is it really worth the extra $150? Also, would it be a good idea to get some xr70 forks to put on the 50 instead of trying to fix the stock pogo sticks? All this would end up costing too much for me I think. What do all u people who have done these mods think i should do.

Thanks!

The stiffer springs are just a budget upgrade. They work moderatly if your just doing trails and street. The xr70 forks work okay but the springs are still too soft, so you will need to upgrade those as well.

the I shock is a great upgrade and worth the money. stiffer fork springs work good, since there cheap, but you will then need the nylon or brass bushings to elminate the slop. The chromoly fork lowers should only be bought when your stock lowers get bent to the point where you can't bend them back

forks

I have an XR70 stock rear shock on the back and i am happy with it.. I have Xr70 "style" forks. The FIRST problem that you are going to run into is that "any" Honda XR,SL,MR forks the headtube will be too long. I have done 4 Conversions. Other brands forks have different sized head tubes. If you look on eBay for any Honda SL,XR,MR 50s-75s you can find a front fork for around $50. SECOND problem is that without proper rear the Front will look Chopper Style, So therefore you must flip the triple over. By flipping the triple is helps to eminiate some of the length and pull the forks up higher. THIRD problem is after you do all this work for a nice fork, you cant use you fancy aftermarket triples.. I will attach pics of this whole process if they are needed.

where did you buy your xr70 shock from? You must have gotten lucky and got it off a junk bike or cheap on ebay. The cost of a new 70 shock is about the same as the I shock. The stock Honda shocks are just low quality. They tend to blow there seals and leak.

If you can't afford a new shock, your best deal is to get a set of aftermarket springs. Applied springs are very stiff. fast0s aren't as stiff. Check out ebay there are a few different companies selling springs for cheap

Stiffer springs for the stock shock make it feel like your sitting on a brick.
