it would, I've used that throttle once, it's really kinda crappy for a xr50. Try using a xr100 style throttle and a xr70 throttle cable. those mini bike throttle kits are really for mini bikes not dirtbikes. What I mean is, that it won't hold up to the abuse

 

My grandpa has those grips ona 80 bike and those offer not comfort at all.
