stiffening up stock springs by cutting them
stiffening up stock springs by cutting them
Hey everybody. I got my 03 xr50
on thursday for $1050 otd. I put bigger grips on it and made a riser type thing to make the bars farther forward and higher. It feels a lot better than stock, but i dont know how long it'll last.
Anyways, i think im gonna need some better suspension. I only weigh 135lbs, but just jumping this little jump in my backyard and getting like 1ft of air, it feels like its bottoming out. It seems like an I-shock and stiffer fork springs would help a lot, but i cant afford that yet.
So...can i cut a couple links off the stock fork and shock springs, then put a pvc spacer in there? This should make it stiffer. I think the aftermarket springs would be too stiff for me. Has anyone tried this?

Has anyone tried this? I put applied springs in my fiddy . I cut 1 inch off of them because they were to tall. It sits stock ride height and has the firm front end I wanted. I suppose if you cut the stockers you could always buy good springs if you mess them up. I know one end of the stock springs were attached to the fork but I can't remember is the other end was .
