what does dealer pay for crf04?
dealer told my friend they pay 1100 for each one I guess he had some paperwork he showed him.I know they get them cheaper than that. I'm guessing around 900. does anybody no for sure what they pay?
I agree with Xidium. They would make no money off of buying them for $1100. Hell, my local dealer sells them for $1199 OTD. I doubt they only make $100 assembling, prepping them, and selling. I would say around $700 - $800 also...
i say that they really do pay close to 1100 for them. that is why they ad frieght, prep, dealer fees, document fees. i've been qouted between 1250 - 1450 out the door(time of the year). freight on those things is probably $35, the only prep is putting on the front wheel and airing up the tires. as far as doc fees go, no title, no paperwork. they just put the customers info in the computer and hit print for a reciept. honda, yamaha, kaw, suzuki all do the same thing. the little stuff has no margin. in most cases after it is said and done, the dealer losses or bairly breaks even on kids stuff. thats why they push accessories so hard. alot better margins, between 15 to 50%. also, they know kids will outgrow them and need a new one next year. they want repeat biz.
I worked at a shop too, but I was a mechanic. Therefor I can't quote dealer prices, but I think they gotta get some kind of money outta it. Damn, if I had a shop and I was paying $1100 for them, I'd sell them for like $1500 or something, LOL. Oh and Oppie, we did more than add and air tires. We checked the oil levels too!!!
We also had to "install" the throttle and kill switch assembly. Geez, you trying to make it sound like I didn't earn my $9.50 an hour??!!!?? LMAO

LMAO when i sold kids stuff. it was for the joy of seeing the kids eyes light up. not to mention test riding the bike before it left. sell a gsxr 1000 at full pop and theres $2200 profit. and yes, i test rode those too.
I hear ya... It's fun riding them. I uncrated them all... Worked for a Honda/KTM/Suzuki dealership. Got to ride everything I prepped and built, it was part of "building" the bike. And when a customer purchased a motorcycle, we HAD to take it out for a 15-30 minute ride to "test" it. We had a little track for the quads and dirtbikes to ride on, with little woops and 3 footers... It's a tough job, but someones gotta do it...
i'm getting ready to go out so i didn't read down through all the posts if someone else touched base on this sorry. i am a salesman. rodger hit the nail on the head. there is very little markup on any bike especially play bikes. i just bought a 04 and all said and done it was around 1300 at my discount. so to all you know it alls either post up the dealer that gets them for 700 and sells them for a thousand or shut the **** up . i cant' stand price shopping calling every dealer within two states to save fifty bucks jerkoffs like you. you buy from your local dealer....your get your accessories from your local dealer and you keep your money local, ya i gotta eat too.
when they came out and couldnt be found, we sold them at full pop + doc + frght+ prep. just like you would, given the oppertunity. when it was said and done that was the margin. we had deposits on them before they even hit. so relax. go make wheelies.
and yes, i hated peolpe that would waste a day of their lives calling and driving hours to another dealer to save $100 bucks. those are the same peolpe that want you to service their bikes now and want a discount on everything. sound familar? before you talk out of your ***, walk over to the file cabnet, open the dealer book and get out a calculater.

just remember that when you buy a bike out of state you dont pay taxes at that dealer. you will pay them when you get home. think about this. cause alot of times when it's said and done, you may only save $50- 150 on big bikes and you spent a day that you could have been riding, sitting in a car. and the local dealer knows you didnt buy it from them, so they dont usally put your service infront of their customers. just a few things to think about.
