xr/crf50, no need for anything else. Its a Honda and Ryan makes tons of parts for it. Plus it will take a beating and never let u down. Just change out the suspension and u will be good to go for now. Later on u can get an 88cc kit for it and it will wake up....=-)

Go with a CRF 70 then. It will take the same abuse, you can still get mods from Ryan, and you wont have to worry about a clutch.

Its easier to learn on the semi-auto.....However "in the right hands" the manual clutch is alot more controling. If u dont know much about control, the manual clutch is gonna make it harder for u to learn...=-)

Re: new to the game

I have nver rode a 70 but the 100 isnt very impresive. 1st gear and the clutch were too short. I like the 50 cuz I can fit it in the trunk of the wifes saturn!!

The only problems Ive had is doing a buzz saw I think its called. Where you stand next to the bike and let it do a burn out around you. Its hard to get it to stop with out grabing traction, pulling a wheelie, and jumping out of your hands. Ive also had some of my friends that new nothing about bikes grab the front brake, which caused them to turn the throttle, which caused the to hit a parked car. But my 6yr old seems to have no problems.
