NEW "to me" fiddy

Just picked up a 2003? i think xr50 tonight has protaper bar kit and a 80cc carb so i'm told. he thinks the motors been replaced as well with an after market something starting with an L i forgot the name. it could use a little work but i think its a good place to start. Whats the best way to set this thing up for me i'm about 6foot tall and 250 lbs. the shock looks to be minorly adj. and just sitting on it bottoms it out. so theres something i'm going to have to do there. Any pointers for a fiddy newb? i'll get some pictures in the morning of how it looks now.

an 80cc carb? and by L I think you mean a Lifan. Those are boo boo Chinese Engines. Get the stock motor back in there. As for springs you're going to need front and rear HD springs.

Re: NEW "to me" fiddy

Lifan, yeah imma go with that guess also. Seems to be a popular little chines engine. Can find it in alot of those SSR's. You may also want to look into buying some 1" longer lower fork legs also. The stock fork legs are the weakest link on the xr/crf50. They tend to bend sooner or later from all the whoolies. Especially from the ones that are learning the ropes. You should change those lower fork legs when u change out the front springs to the HD springs. That way u kill 2 birds with one stone....As for the rear suspension, it sounds like urs is shot or just not enough for you. I used an Ishock rear suspension on mine, but they are pretty pricey. You can get some that are cheaper and IMO will do just as well....As for the bike itself, you have a damn good one. The xr/crf is damn near bullet proof. I put mine through hell when i was learning and its still damn near minty, LoL...=-)

i'll get som pics up here in a few minutes so you guys can annalyse what i've got. Ah and yes lifan is what the motor is. makes sense cuz thats the motor i think is in my ssr 125. yea i'm not shure what carb is really on there i might just look at putting a whole new motor in it later down the road. is got 4 speeds tho with the semi auto. also where can i find the longer tubes? are they easy to replace i've never done anything with forks and didn't know you could just replace the tubes. i was looking at planetmini guys selling an i shock or $115 shipped think i should go with that?

i'm pretty shure he shock looks new but its adj. on max and it wont hold m big ***.

i just noticed this is adj. should i move it forward so i can get a little more leg room?

Motor looks to be stock. but, may have some tranny upgrades to it. Exhaust doesn't look stock. and the red things on the axle are chain tensioners. Just go to you're local parts store and pick up a set. Should be 10mm.

Never seen a triple clamp like that...So sorry I can't help with that...

but, anyways looks pimp.

Re: NEW "to me" fiddy

i did decide to move the bars forward on te triple clamp witch i kinda like but now theres more leg room i still don't have any suspension since the shock/spring is way weak been looking for a cheap way to get this tighter so my 250lb body won't kill it.
