50 Stunting Guidance Please?

So i just picked up a stock 05 xr50 like 3 days ago and i just can't really get the hang of riding a wheelie like i've seen and heard you guys doin. I'm not saying that i would be doing all the crazy **** in 3 days but at this point it's getting pretty frustrating. Since i got it i threw a +8 sprocket ( guy gave it to me who i got the bike from)on it, rear spring and a bigger handle bar setup. I have been riding it like crazy and i will say that yes i have improved alot but i still can't get the hang of it. I don't ask to get bashed or anything because yes i have seen tons of it on here but what i do ask is for some tips and advise because i really do want to improve my riding which is why i picked this 50 up so i don't kill myself on the r6. I have ridden some decent wheelies but i just can't really stay straight and or find a balance point on it. Every time i pull it up and feel comfortable it either falls on it's face or i 12 it. I originally was doing this all in first (stock gearing), then realized 3rd (+8 gearing)had more low end torque so i have been messing with it in that gear pretty much, especially with the sprocket upgrade. My next mods are some diff pegs, rear pegs, rear hand brake and some forks because these are definitly getting pretty beat up. Anyways, i would really appreciate some advise if you have any. Thanks

I rock stock sprockets and just come to a near stop an shift my weight back and power it up then if needed I catch it on rear brake. You are using the brake right ?

How tall are you? If youre over 6" you can consider the tall seat. It might help you line up with the brake a little better.

Im 6" on the dot and rock the stock seat . You can go either way, The tall one is probably real nice though. Just keep praticing and youll get it real quick. Itll make you real sore the first few practice sessions, then youll dominate. Give it a few weeks. Also, the skill isnt really the same as the bigbike, but it helps for sure

ya i'm def picking one of those. my *** is torn apart b/c this seat texture is like sandpaper. Ya i'm sore as hell because i have not ridden all winter, but I wish i got this 50 back November to keep me on two wheels throughout the cold. I know this skill doesn't transfer to the big bike but it for sure helps. I'm new to all of this so it's all a learning experience.

Re: 50 Stunting Guidance Please?

street tires, stock gears ,and practice practice practice

alot of people learn buy keeping one fooot on the ground in first gear but as soon as you start to be good at it stop using your foot or it will become habit forming and if you do turn up the idle remember that will eliminat engine break and engine break will help you is a skill you will want to learn

If your fiddy is like every one I have seen your foot brake is probably almost under the case. Bend that thing out, it will make your life alot easier. Also make sure that your brakes are properly adjusted. I like mine to have very little play.

Re: 50 Stunting Guidance Please?

back brake is key to stunting...it will save your life on a big bike...in my view balance point is when you're like Oo ****...balance point is high....the more and more you hit that point you will get use to it and it will become natural to you....i had my 50 for about a week now and the second day i had it i was doing stand ups and sit downs
