jus got my fiddy,I'm lovin it!!!!!!!

Jus ' picked up a 01' XR for $600 Runs great ,but the brakes dont work too good. How can I fix them?I read something about sanding them?

Are they adjusted correctly ?

I lift a wheel off the ground and spin the tire by hand . Then turn the adjusting **** on the brake arm until the wheel starts to drag on the brake shoes . This will take away the excess play in the brake controls and your brakes will grab sooner .

If you take the front wheel off , there is not much that is involved in the drum brake system . Look to see if the shoes are worn out . Sometimes the shoes and drum will become glazed . That's why people sand them . To make a (somewhat) rough surface .
