Stock 50 Fork Stripped?

I redid the bushings on my 03 xr50 and they came out good but now one of my top bolts that bolts the triple tree into the top of the fork wont tighten all the way. Im afraid the inside of the fork leg could be stripped, it screws all the way in, starts to tighten, then becomes loose again. Any ideas? could the leg be in wrong? Thanks

Re: Stock 50 Fork Stripped?

its probably not the bolt but the threads in the top of the fork spring holder. look in and see if the threads are stripped. its as easy as that.

Make sure the little notch in the top of fork spring ends are facing the middle. If they aren't facing right I don't think it will seat in all the way.

true... if the notch isn't sitting right it will jsut spinand spin... if you really think it's stripped go to ACE hardware adn get a matching bolt one inch longer...the stock bolts dont utilize the entire depth of the threads on the spring holder so a longer bolt will make use of what threads are left if you did in fact strip it... but from experience it's probaly just not lined up with teh notch and groove, i've tightened the hell out of mine and never stripped them.. i've had hte fors apart 6+ times for new legs, bushings, springs, shortening the +1 legs and tehn shortening them some more... and the notch not lining up has cause me a ton of hassle several times.... with the bolt loose and the wheel off... spin the leg and push upwards on it untill you fel teh notch catch into place. while holding the fork there, insert the bolt and tighten it down... if still no luck, get the longer bolt...easy fix

EDIT:damn, i responded beforereading the last post, my bad
