sik 50 rear spring

do the rear springs for the stock shock make a big difference? i am 160lbs. and not ready to spend $100+ on a complete shock. i have heard that its easier to keep the bike straight during wheelies with the stiffer spring.... i want to make sure before i order one. thanks
