Help........Fiddy Prob

Sup guys, I got a dumbass question for ya. There's 3 screws holding on the cover to the front sprocket and 2 are long and 1 is short. Well, without noticing I put a long one in the bottem hole where the short one should be and now that hole is leaking oil. I must have punctered some kind of seal or something now I can see right through the hole and into the engine. So besides not paying attention to what I was doing, did I royally screw it up? Was there some kind of seal or metal there that I put the screw through and is now in the engine? Yikes. If it helps, I can take pictures of what I'm talking about tonight, I was hoping someone would know off hand.

Thanks for your help guys.

Not sure what you did, but I'm sure a little JB Weld can fix it!

Yeah, we did that. I drained all the remaining oil and I haven't put any back in yet. I'm just worried that there's a piece of metal or whatever was holding the oil in the first place floating around in the engine. That would suck.

What?

You probably do have a little chunk of metal floating around in there. Could try some kind of thread sealer of teflon tape as a temperary fix. Only real fix is to split the cases and TIG it. Did you wonder why the bolt filt like it was getting tight before you decided to drive it on in anyways?Just wondered.

Well it wasn't getting tighter, that's the problem. It was going in fine and dandy. Whatever was holding the oil in wasn't very strong in the first place and the bolt just popped it out with ease. And the longer bolts aren't much longer than the shorter one.

Thumbs up

Just a little bit of casting at the bottom of the threads. Swear they make it that way to pull in some extra $$$$ at the dealerships. I eliminated that odd bolt on mine by cutting the cover so that my countershaft sprocket is exposed. Makes clean-up and maintenance easier and looks cooool. PM me if you want this done and I'll get back to ya.
