Kill switch/ignition idea

After upgrading my throttle and ditching the kill switch, there have been times when I found it would have been handy. This idea popped into my head based on the safety feature built into treadmills and jetskis.

Basically rewire the ignition circuit (which is OPEN=OFF and CLOSED=ON) to an automotive fuse holder mounted on the handlebars. A 20A fuse is used to close the circuit. This fuse is attached to a wrist strap, which is attached to your wrist. When you bail hard, and let go of the bars, the fuse will detach from the holder and thus cut out the ignition.

Can anyone see any flaws to this idea? You can still keep your key lock if you wire this in series. It adds an extra security feature to your bike in that without a fuse to close the circuit, and the key, you won't be able to start it.

All race quads have that killswitch, you could buy it from like www.rockymountainatv.com for pretty cheap (under 30 bucks) and just wire it in. I have it on mine and its really easy to do.

for racing it would be cool but stunting it wouldn't serve a purpose. many stunts are done with only one or no hands. good idea though

It dosent really matter if you have your hand on or not they usually attach to your body.

Re: Kill switch/ignition idea

tether switches - not only with the problem of it ghost riding/taking off if you crash.

It's good to have on a dirt bike (esp. a 2 stroke) - if you ever bin it in the sand/mud and you land the throttle wide open the thing will sit there screaming.
