125 4-speed ????

Hey guys, I'm looking for some feedback on these bikes-->
http://www.moto-heaven.com/store/car...uct_list&c=120

Features, look, price ?

A friend is importing them and we're distributing them. We've had some really good responce from them but wanted to get some feedback form guys who I know modify the XR's now and who is our customer base - guys using them for stunting and so forth.

I'm working on a gearing kit (for clearences purposes) to make a rear shock riser option work.

Thanks.

Re: 125 4-speed ????

Nope. Sorry. Looks like a chopper. I could break it in a week or less. Why is the disk on the fron as big as the rim?

Three words.

Buy a Honda.

From what I can tell thats just the way this one is designed - to give more coverage earlier.

Seriously, I'm not trying knock one or the other. I'd just like some real feedback from experience that anyone has had.

Thanks.

They (not you specifically but in general I mean) keep saying that the are interchangeable, but they aren't. I think sticker kits may work, but not much more.

I personally think the knock offs are going to bring new riders into the fiddy sport because of the price. There's some hovering around $400 that I'd buy just for fun.

Really depends the use, I think.

For stunting, you can't go wrong with a stock honda, bars and get a motor kit later if needed.

For motard, I think the 125cc's, 4 Speeds will be awesome. Xtreme has a fully automatic 90cc that I may even buy for this very reason.

For Dirt (and I'm certainly no expert) the knock offs are heavier and can't take the abuse.

Re: 125 4-speed ????

SoCal, Thanks for the logical response. I haven't had a chance to abuse one myself because of the 2' of snow outside so the info is helpful. The folks that have been interested were adults running mini-motards or for pit bikes.
Supposedly, the company that is making these bought the rights to several Honda model specs and the bottom end of the motor is all interchangeable, even the bodywork. We'll see.

ive ridden two knock offs and alot of hondas and the honda cant be beat....instead of shifting up to upshift you have to shift down takes some getting used to plus the springs were really squishy they were about the same stiffnes just longer travel.....but it wouldnt be bad for you girlfriend who you know aint gonna ride it hard

Re: 125 4-speed ????

Yeah, like I said, I wasn't talking about you specifically. SiK50's is one of my best sponsors and they said the parts are not interchangeable. I think the bike is actually a Thumpstar. THere's is also the Icon bikes, Xtremes, Sikk toys (not the same as SIK50's), SDG's and a host of other companies.

Good point, I did forget one important market and that is the guy who want's a pimp looking pit bike. These bikes will appeal to those guys who want the baddest looking bike with out sinking $5K into a honda.

Honda owners (myself included) tend to hate on the knock offs partially because we sunk tons of $$ into our honda's and made them the way we wanted. Then bikes like these come out that to an average joe, look just as good if not better, then our bikes that we spent $4-5K dollars building. But they are getting better and a lot of the 50 aftermarket companies are working directly with the exporters to build a better product.

As loyal as I am to my honda's, when something comes out that's as good, or almost as good, but much cheaper. I'm there!

Re: 125 4-speed ????

they dont use quality fasteners, the metal isnt as strong. just beacuse there made somewhere close to honda doesnt mean anything. theres a reason they only cost 400 compared to 1400 for a honda. you cant skimp on quality and think that cause they look the same, they are the same

ive cartwheeled my fifty on pavement at least 10 times and only bent handlebars. not dropped it, but literally in the air end over end. the honda was designed for a 80lb kid and can take some srious abuse. these china bikes are aimed at full size riders like us and cant handle half of what the hondas do. now imagine what a stock honda 50 would be like if they designed it for 200 lb 15-30 year old guys?

Re: 125 4-speed ????

And that's thing about my Honda right now. I bought my 50 and LEARNED how to wheelie on it. By that I mean months (I'm slow I know) of pure abuse shifting from 1st to 2nd with the front end slamming back down over and over and over and over about 200x a day.

The bike always starts, first kick and just takes more and more abuse.

Re: 125 4-speed ????

i have a question too, when something breaks on them, can you get specific parts like a honda? if you can get whatever parts you need, that would make it more appealing rather than selling a product that when something breaks, your **** outta luck. id even buy the disk brakes off one for the right price

Re: 125 4-speed ????

Thanks for the insight. I know there a lot of companies making crap out there, and selling it for near nothing, and I see a lot of time.. I went through it first hand as a distribuot of the Blata pocketbikes when all the immitations of those caem in. This is the first dirt bike the I've come across that didn't have cheap parts on it. Yes, I've been working with bikes for a long time and can tell the difference.

From what I'm told- spares are available, and are interchangeable with the Honda. I'll be confirming that myself shortly when some parts I've ordered come in.
If they serve their purpose then we will bring more typically replaced spares in as well as complete disassembled bikes for parts.

And I realize everything has its use. If you want something you can throw down the road 100x a day, and/or do huge jumps with, this may or may not be it.
We will certainly find out though.

Re: 125 4-speed ????

This thread sounds like advertising to me?

Give me a demo for two weeks. I will then let you know how it stacks up. I whip the crap out of my XR and like you said it just keeps on going.

I will drive to PA and pick it up if you want to do the demo. I will give you a fair write-up on at least three 50 forums. Whether it is a good bike or a POS it will be a fair article.

Re: 125 4-speed ????

And that sounds like a free ride to me.

When I know myself whether they are worth selling, let alone promoting or advertising and so forth then we can talk.
