72cc Cheater

There is a guy on ebay selling 72cc kits, still marked 49cm3 on the jug, I bought one and slapped it on and its the best thing I think I've bought for my fiddy. I don't have the link to it but it under keyword xr50. Price is like 92.00 with free s/h. comes with the jug, piston, rings, and all gaskets needed. If you want that little bit of extra power and not the sikness of the 88 kit, get this.

Re: 72cc Cheater

I have this same kit.

I like it, in fact, I plan on putting this on my stunt bike. Only bad part is, if you race, they don't know where to put you. I raced motard, and I couldn't race stock class, couldn't race 88 class, so ended up running in Amatuer unlimted with the 107s. Needless to say it wasn't much of a race.

Re: 72cc Cheater

LOL. who cares what i think? i dont understand the hype. same as any other 72,82, or 88. the only differance is you get a stock cylinder that has been bored out and had a new sleeve pressed into it. who really cares what the cylinder says on it? it is a good price though if the parts are good quality. i bought a piston from DRATV for this same purpose and turned out the damn thing wasnt machined properly and the valves were hitting the head. just watch what ya buy is all. bore kits get a reputation real quick, whether it be good or bad, just do research before you buy something that sounds too good to be tru.

Re: 72cc Cheater

How much does the ebay guy want for the "cheater kit", Do what fab said and look at dratv. Just get a piston from them and a cylinder off a 70 and your done. Thats how I did my 72cc kit for under $80 and its still running strong a year later.

Re: 72cc Cheater

interesting to say the least.. i didn't know it was that damn easy.. i always thaught those kits were incomplete or something thats why they were so cheap. Does 72cc make a huge difference?

They don't make a huge difference but a really noticeable one. The torque in first and second gear is perfect. I rode an 88 and didn't like it because it had way too much power and I couldn't keep the front wheel down. Trust me this kit is the chit for someone who wants more power w/o all the $$$ and b/s of the 88 kits. the only downfall of the ebay thing is the guy dropships out of veitnam and it takes about three weeks to get to the u.s.

Re: 72cc Cheater

There is a very noticealbe torque gain with the 72cc. I still think the 88's are crazy but thats me. if you are looking for a solid, cheap power gain then the 72 is the easiest way to go. I'm pretty sure I am still using a 60 main jet on my carb and the thing runs great.

Just go search around for a used xr70 cylinder and then get the 47mm flat head piston from dratv. Just make sure to buy new seals. If you got questions just go look at my shitty walkthrough http://www.50mod.com/72cc.php
