Anyone know the legal stuff on riding in your backyard in california?

 

i was born and raised there and as far as i remember on your own property you can ride anything you want at any age without licence reg or insurance.
(i used to see 10 year olds driving tractors).

i think you good to do just about anything you want.

im in cali we do it all the time, but if you got neibors i guess you cant disturb them

 

Ya, here in KY, the cop across the street will watch out the window and wait for us to hit the sidewalk, then come out with his ticket book... happened 2 times already.

He said we can do whatever we want in the yard, but if a neighbor (im sure the cops calls his own buddies anyway) complains, then they CAN get u for disturbing the peace or whatever. They usually dont care if its not past 8pm or so

its just a oval, he and his friends just get drunk and race each other, its on one of the crusty's or something, i use to ride with Brian Emig his brother, i have no idea what he is doing now

I didnt know the cops were such hard asses on ridding in the alley.Me and my son got hassled on christmas eve and he gave us a warnning saying next time he will impound the bikes for 30 days at 30.00 somthing a day! Damn dont they have any thing better to do? I m ridding in the back yard but its a small yard and Im constantly turning.

 

what i always do is keep moving. Cops in Cali are dikheads, so you dont wanna have a run in with them. my homie and i ride all over my town, on the streets as if i was riding my street bike. the secret is to stay off main roads where cops drive, and never stay in the same place for more than a minute. that way, no one calls the cops on you and gets you in trouble. riding around in an alley is a good way to **** people off because the souond bounces off all the houses and it really annoys them. so, just keep moving so no one has a chance to get mad. because you can even get in trouble for riding around in your own yard if your neighbor calls the cops, so its really a moot point......na mean?

 

ya the cops in oceanside are ****** one told me he could impound my bike for 30 day at 95 a day plus 500 for towing and some other bullshit after he whent on for like an hour and a half about how wrong i was for riding on private propety in an apartement complex that the owners said i can ride in he reallly made me feel like i should be on death row

When it comes to the Bay Area in Cali it seems it depends on where you are and what your doing.

Ive heard of guys that had cops roll on them when there in their yard and they said they had to stop because of noise pollution laws. Then in other parts of the Bay Area we have partied ripping around on 50s till 4 in the morning having 50 beer races. The cops didnt come until we started lighting off fire works, and even then they didnt say anything about the 50s.
