It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and he went out for a ride. He was getting of I-75 and the State Trooper says he lost control and slid with the bike on top of him into the median. There is a curb on the median and when he hit it he broke his neck. I don't believe that he just lost control, I think someone in front of him must have slammed on their brakes, and he did the same. The end of the exit ramp is covered with oil and tar. I think that would be the only way he would have lost control....I guess I'llnever know, but Russ was a good rider. He's been on bikes since he was a little kid. He had on a helmet and riding gear. There was not a scratch on him.

can i say it pretty crappy that motorcyclist jus lost control or we jus speed or were reckless etc.. its never those oil spittin cars or the cracks in the road on 275 or the debris that cars and constru wrkers leave or the cars failure to use signal or there red light runnin last night coming from quaker on 49th we get the green and head foward out of the blue theres a bmw that ran his turn arrow we should of kicked his car in we dont just fall off they just dont fall out of cars we dont just fall off bikes for no reason

Missi - my deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. It is so hard to hear about a rider going down. You sound like you are holding up pretty well considering you are a brave woman. Thanks for coming on here and sharing your story with us. I know if you need support or just conversation you can come here on SL and find it at any hour of the night....don't hesitate to do it

RIP russ

you are so right. many times when there is a bike accident we are made out to be the "bad guy" or the "reckless" one.

R.I.P. Russ

It's really terrible that I feel safer on one wheel on a side road then on both on the interstate/highway. Too much junk in the road, cracks, bumps, never ending construction, re-capped tire blowouts from the big trucks everywhere, etc etc.! It's just not safe at any speed.

Very sorry for your loss! My most sincerest condolences!

Missi, I am very sorry to hear of your loss... It was a loss to all riders. Keep your chin up girl...You know it wasn't his riding skills, and that's what counts...don't worry about what the "Haters" say...
