Hey Guys,

Do you know any good websites that I can go to, to read up on information regarding Copyrights, and Licensing and all that good stuff for using music in videos?

I've tried doing a search in Google for this stuff, but there is so much junk about Napster, and Kazaa, and crap like that I can't find anything that I'm looking for.

If anybody here could personally give me some information on this subject I would greatly appreciate it as well.

We are basically trying to look into Using some songs for a video that will be sold for profit.

the copywright laws protect the creator of the work, that person or persons can then choose to do with it as they wish, there are a few good sights that talk about copywright laws however, your best bet is to contact the artist or promoter, explain what you are doing and ask permission. You will be giving them free publicity. If it is a big name act, they may not care about the publicity and want royalties. We looked for local bands and found some cool music, and the small local guys or girls would love to say their tunes are on a stunt video,,,,,,hope it helped a little,,, good luck on the vid
