Re: newbie learning

good job man...reminds me so much of me learning...just try not to chop the throttle, try to be smooth and don't worry about going traight up to to bp..take your time getting to bp and be smooth...once you do that start using the rear brake a little when you think you're gonna go over

as for the crash, yeah seemed like you went past bp and paniced...should have just pressed the rear brake but i know how it is..it's hard to remember everything lol

good job so far though..keep it up

yep, seems so damn obviouse now doesnt it. live and learn eh.

i find first gear way too touchy for much anything other then ***** to the walls accelerating... i dont want to gear it any more because this is also my commuter bike, 6.5k at 70 is bad enough.

i dont think i have much choice other then to learn 1st sit downs some to get used to that blasted break...

is there anyone in the manhattan area that could help me out a bit? i live about an hourish south of there, 25 minutes to junction city if i blow through traffic... this is all in kansas by the way...

Re: newbie learning

I'm no expert still got some learning to do, but try not to lean so much toward the front when you bring it up. As for learning the rear brake, I found that if you clutch it up, not worry about how far your going to ride it and just keep tapping the brake, you'll get pretty use to it. Then when you need it, it's second nature. And by tapping it I don't mean actually pressing it enough to really do much, just slightly pressing it. you don't want to slam the front end down. Lookin good, stck w/ standups for now.

Re: newbie learning

on a nother note, i keep drifting off to the right, doesnt matter what side of the road i'm on, other then keeping more weight on the other side is there anything else? what about a slightly, misaligend rear wheel? could that do it too? looks like i'm hugging that right side as hard as i try to lean left, put that on the list of things i need to work on.[/QUOTE]

If you're pulling right adjusting the rear tire in the swingarm could help......You would want to adjust the right adjuster (when sitting on the bike) more towards the rear, bringing the axil closer to the back of the bike.....That will make the bike pull more left.

And use first gear, get used to just applying brake even before the balance point just to get a feel for how it effects the bike... Tear it up bro :YEAH

i just give it alittle bounce and some clutching action. i'm -1 in front, that helps a bit but i dont find that the hard part. right now the hard part is finding a good pair of gloves, i'm freezing my fingers off right now. it snowd on tuesday!
