Computers in the Military
Hey all, I'm shipping off August 12 to boot camp, in the Navy, then after that, I have A school. I was wondering after boot, would it be possible to have my own laptop, in A school, and after that, on ship, or on base. What's the word?
thanks!
thanks!
Re: Computers in the Military
Of course not in boot camp, but I'm pretty sure afterwards yep.
In the Air Force everybody goes to Tech School after basic training, and there in the first 30 days your room has to be bare, but people have Xbox and pc's and cell phones but they have to make sure they dont leave it out because it can get inspected and they will get demerits, but they still are allowed to have them, and after the first 30 day phase they can take them out and have them in the open.

Yup, once your out of boot camp (which is what 5 or 6 weeks?) you can do whatever you want. Probably won't be able to have a car at your school, we could, so you never know. Just lock up your stuff, I wasn't so much worried about getting inspected I worried about getting my stuff lifted. Good luck, soon-to-be-squid! Erik

after you get outta boot camp, you can have whatever you want. its just like a regular job, the only difference is that the navy will supply your housing. and, while they are supplying your housing, everything you have is up for inspection. so you just have to lock it up. anyway, what a school are you going to? good luck and make the best outta the military. theres alot of bullshit you will have to put up with, but in my opinion, it is definately worth it. if you want any more info about the navy, pm me. ive been in the navy for 7 years, so i kinda have an idea of what its all about. take it easy and just remember to make the best of everything.

hey thanks all for the info, that helped a lot!
RTC is 8-10 weeks for me, as for my job in the Navy, I am an Avionics Technician (AV), so I go to A school in Pensecola Florida
As my ship date comes closer and closer, I'll be asking more and more questions, lol thanks again!!

Does it matter if I have a Mac or a PC either? I'd prefer a Mac, but I dunno if that would be compatible or what not with Navy software, if I even get any.
