I miss my SAW-I used to carry one when i was in a chem unit in NE, now i am in PA and we are mechanized so i get a 50

 

What's that ribbon next to your National Defense, and how did you earn it? and what are the badges for? i'm assuming rifle, pistol and ???

 

That's his Army Basic Training Ribbon. Gets when he graduates basic.

 

holy crap, the army gets a ribbon just for graduating their 8 week boot camp? thats crap! They might as well get a ribbon for making it to work on time, or with their boots on the right foot. Wow, now when I look at a soldier's uniform, I'm gonna have to wonder how hard he really had to work for all those ribbons they all have. Congrats

 

Yeah i never really agreed with it but you get the freggin ribbon after 90 days of service...wtf........and yes i have one also why i have no clue i guess back in the day when it was hard then it was an achivment to live thru 90 of training...hahhahha...

 

actually you get that for graduating your initial training, ie. AIT or OSUT the air force is the only service that gives a ribbon just for completing basic

The Qual badges are for Rifle, pistol, gernades and machine gun. and the foriegn medal on the left is the German Armed Forces Proficiency badge-Gold.

Here's me in Baghdad shortly after we took the city staying in a bombed out hotel that we scrounged up. The other half of the bulding was collapsed, and there was a 20 foot wide 10 foot deep crater right behind it we used as a garbage burn pit.

 

you see the cables running into the window, that was our power we rigged from generators we found.

Then you'll REALLY have some **** on your chest to be proud of. Of all that junk you have on, you'll wear the ribbons and maybe the german badge again once you get to your unit. But you'll only wear the uniform 2 times a year, so it doesn't really matter whats on it...
