Taking off my frame
Taking off my frame
I know everyone does it, but I never have. I need to take my frame off so I can weld it, its incredibly beat to fu**.
Is taking the engine off your bike a huge process? Do I have to take the oil out? gimme some details. I know its a project, just want to know how long, and what are the straight basics, like removing oil, where should I start... any feedback will help. thanks guys..

no need to drop oil. remove tank, aribox, carbs/fuel injectors, radiator, chain....then remove motor mounts to drop motor. easily done with one person, two makes it easier to drop motor...keep it as a rolling chassis. you will have to disconnect the wiring harness from the motor as well-label which wires go where so you can reassemble.
one thing though, see if you can weld the frame WITHOUT dropping the motor-oftentimes you can, just gotta remove all the above mentioned stuff...
----hangin with GMO and cant drop a motor??!!! you need to give those girls a call and ask for help-when you do tell 'em i said hello!!

Thanks Teach,
Yea they all know how to drop a motor. And yes I have welded it many many times without droppin the motor. It's definately time to do so. Everybody is busy up here, but i'll let you know how it turned out. My bike is upstairs in my apartment, so It will be a lot more comfortable tackling this frame issue.
thanks for the pointers Teach.
