supermoto build?

hey guys ive been really into supermotos lately and am thinking of getting a crf450 to stunt with.
is making a supermoto as easy as putting street tires on a dirtbike or is there more to it than that? and if so what is it?

Re: supermoto build?

Lights, guages, brakes, suspension, tires...

thenasty562 10-28-2009 07:08 PM

Re: supermoto build?

i understand lights, guages, and tires but when you say suspension and brakes do you just mean stiffer suspension and bigger/better brakes?

Re: supermoto build?

you are on point with the supermoto stuff
now which one whould you recomend?

ed275 10-29-2009 01:37 PM

Re: supermoto build?

I havent ordered from either yet, but I will be soon. I noticed that epic has WAY cheaper shipping. I plan on getting the big stuff from epic and the stuff I cant get from them I'll get from motostrano. Motostrano def has a bigger selection though. But I think their may be more sites for CRFs like crfsonly.com I am going to be building a kxf250, if my trade goes through.

thenasty562 10-30-2009 05:07 AM

Re: supermoto build?

well good luck with the trade
but to be honest i'm not really sure what i want i said honda just cause i've had honda bikes before and feel comfortable with them but if i find a really good price on something else i'll jump on it

Re: supermoto build?

bah dont need lights... maybe a acerbis headlight...

Fuck signals & gauges. Get a motocrosser and throw some rims/tires on it :cheers

StrictlyStunt 10-30-2009 05:12 AM

Re: supermoto build?

50stunt.com has stuff on his site now for supermoto

Re: supermoto build?

Ya check your states laws about bike requirements to make em street legal. My current state (alabama) just requires night time lights and I think a mirror.

Re: supermoto build?

dont go with motostrano they take forever to ship out wheels and they forgot my spacers...

ed275 10-30-2009 11:57 PM

Re: supermoto build?

Ya I figured epic would be better, especially since motostrano's shipping is waaaaay too high

See ryan moor for the crf parts. his 50stunt website has all the shit for the Honda CRF range

Re: supermoto build?

Anyone have any opinions on what rims to buy? I dont have a lot of dough so I was thinking either DNA or warp 9

MotaredStunts 10-31-2009 03:36 PM

Re: supermoto build?

If you build a kxf250 you will need the a big sprocket and a lighting coil with a cooling fan hooked up to it. A flywheel weight is nice and you will want passenger pegs even if it means building a subframe. I have a a supermoto stunt bike built out of an rmz250 05. Im about to build a 450

MotaredStunts 10-31-2009 03:38 PM

Re: supermoto build?

And I have warp 9s on mine its the way to go cause you dont cry as much the first time you scratch the shit out of them trying to do circle wheelies. but they come with a nice rotor and the caliper bracket

its gonna be a pain in the ass for me to make it street legal cause i live in cali :banghead. but ive seen it done so i know its possible

Re: supermoto build?

Its not as bad when you scratch a warp 9 vs. anyother high dollar rim

Re: supermoto build?

I have heard of people buying the frame of a xr650 or something off ebay and using that title to get it tagged in all that but I dont know about cali

drew you selling your bike? whats up with that?

MotaredStunts 11-07-2009 05:25 PM

Re: supermoto build?

Ya the only thing it hurt was the sliders. And ya I dont have any videos on the net. but ill put some up later. I dont have a hand brake on my bike cause i have figured out how to put one on the rmz without paying a shit load to have someone make a dual caliper set up.

i guess im just tired of it, ive had it forever. Guess i just want to change it up. get excited again about riding a new bike and set it up real nice. you know, you have like 4 or 5 bikes haha. and yours are real nice
that yz426 is carb and i really want to get a FI. yeaya
I still want to ride with you and e-loc sometime. we should hit up some XDL's in the future and do the aprilia challenge. Its like i have been training my whole life for that haha

Yeah I'm getting spoiled on fuel injection, it's so smooth! I got a feeling once I finish getting my WR250X all tricked out, I'm probably gonna sell the CRF250X and buy another fuel injected supermoto. Only other fuel injected motards I know of are the Husqvarna SM 450R (6 speed) [2008~2009] and the Aprilia SXV 4.5 / 5.5 (5 speed)
I wish the Aprilia had a 6 speed wide ratio tranny, then you could probably do well over 110mph, supposedly that's the top speed. I really would like to have a 230lbs 150mph fuel injected supermoto. the SXV 5.5 could do it if they spaced out the tranny correctly and added a 6th gear, it has enough power to pull to that speed.
yeah, we'll have to ride sometime, they need an aprilia freestyle challenge, where you get like 3 minutes to throw in as many sick tricks as you can on the aprilia, that would be cool I think.
