Re: Suzuki 400SM

I got the bike on-hold. I'm hoping to get it out by TUE night. I'm ****ing happy!!!

The first thing that I want to change is the exhaust.

Re: Suzuki 400SM

Personally I think the 400SM has no balls. I got mine tuesday last week and love it but it does have no balls. I plan on going with the 3x3 mod and engine work as the louder the pipe the more attention I will be getting and its not like im getting any now jumping curves and shit.

randomjibrish 08-08-2005 07:46 PM

Re: Suzuki 400SM

never tried one...but i bet i can make one grow some balls.....i ride everything hard......i would like to try one..but i dont no nebody here wit one...

Re: Suzuki 400SM

Yea its underpowered but it reliable as fuuuu!! I did the 3x3 mod and jet kit plus a full yoshi and i only pulled on my bro with the same bike by like 2 bikes. It feels a lot more powerful but it really isnt. 2 bikes is a lot i guess but not much. All i know is I am having big issues with 12 oclock wheelies. I can get them their all day long but it stalls out. Before when the bike was stock i could rock 4 MPH wheelies but now all i can do is coasters. The bike shuts off at 12 ever since the Jet kit 3x 3 mod and pipe. I think i need to mess with the float. Several other DRZ stunters are having the same issue after the mods.
Hope this helps
yoshi pipe?....u should look at the 400sm plae scrape fourm...they have this nice kit wit turnin signals and plate holder n shit...real clean...
I already looked at the other thread with plate kit, that's what got me here, hehehehe.

Impreza
Any stall has to come from the jet kit, not the exhaust. I'm not going to do the juet kit, atleast not yet.

I know the bike isn't the fastest or strongest, but this bike is exactly what I was looking for. A great bike to get back to the sport.

Re: Suzuki 400SM

Is it just me or does the front end feel heavy when you wheelie it? First time I tried to endo it I almost wnet right over, I am used to the 50 so I grabbed way to much brake :hello

Re: Suzuki 400SM

I have a DRZ! Pretty much my first bike. I'm ready to upgrade. My friends YZ 250 is fastern then it. I know it's been ridden yard and put away on more then one occations. The new KTM's are SICK! When is YAMAHA and Honda going to import some supermotard bikes.

Peeweesp 08-11-2005 10:41 PM

Re: Suzuki 400SM

apparently there will be and xr400 motard sometime in the near future. but dont know about yamaha.

Re: Suzuki 400SM

but i just read this, on ktmtalk, next year the 06 625 smc is gonna cost about 1000$ more than it did this year, and it is unchanged, but this year only about 100 625s came into the states. They say they will be so much more due to exchange rates.

imprezawd 08-13-2005 04:42 PM

Re: Suzuki 400SM

my DRZ toped out at 101mph!! I might get ride of the jet kit or mess with the float! The XR 400 is a DOG compared to a DRZ!! THe front of the bike is not heavy nor does it feel heavy. I can rock stoppies on both the fiddy and DRZ! The DRZ has much better brakes :LOL

I got a SICK frame for the Fiddy! Im all about Dirt JUmps now on fiddy's. No more street stunting for me on the fiddy atleast. Only big bikes!!

Hit me up if u have any ?'s

Re: Suzuki 400SM

DRZ is the most well rounded balls to the wall fun motard out on the market period.

everything else is over priced or under powered.

this thing needs nothing and you just jump on and rock it.

Can you guys give me tips on the best way to lear how to wheelie, I can lift the bike up in 2nd gear but can't keep it up because I'm scare of falling back

Re: Suzuki 400SM

BYOSM..loose the fear of falling back.Keep practicing little by little, dont rush.
The most important rule is ...COVER your back break at all times.

Re: Suzuki 400SM
COVER your back break at all times.
do you have your foot on it while riding up there too? excuse my ignorance

Re: Suzuki 400SM

once you get good, then you can use the engine as your brake(standing on the seat, if thats what you mean)

BYOSM 08-19-2005 01:00 AM

Re: Suzuki 400SM

And yes I live in Hollywood FL. Also I'm having problems finding a nice place to practice. Today I ordered the yoshimura full exhaust, can't wait.

EDIT: Thanks for all the tips, this weekend I have plenty of time I hope to practice some.

Re: Suzuki 400SM

the reason why the bike most likely stalls is from the sensor that registers that its going to flip.

M-One 08-25-2005 08:32 PM

Re: Suzuki 400SM

where would this tip sensor most likely be located? If any one finds out if this is the fault, please post. 2 more weeks and my DRZ will be at 12ok or bust.

That price for a used one seems alittle steep, i just bought a 05 brand new for 5799.00, you should talk to your dealer they are still out there.

I'm pretty happy with my bike, the deal is done.
I been riding almost everyday, and I even getting a little better on wheelies :fiddy . I think that I have 2 more weeks before I can keep it up for a long time.

Re: Suzuki 400SM

I have to wait till i think this wensday before my exhaust system is in, a buddie of mine told me on the full systems because it has the rm suspension that you have to watch the pipe around the rear spring because it is so much bigger, I will have to get some pictures of the bike once it is on. :apimp
