it is illegal to sell a title only...it is illegal to sell a frame and title together without a bike also....your basically inviting someon tto buy your title to restamp a stolen frame...thats how the law looks at it...i just wouldnt sell it ot just anybody...especially if you dont knwo them and there local...but if there out of state id sell it to anyone...only local law would actually try and bust you for it...good luck

 

hmm, It may be Illegal to sell just the title, but it is NOT illegal to sell the frame and title. It is not the responsibility of the seller of the frame and title to monitor what the buyer does with it. That is where you, the buyer may or may not commit a criminal act.
Just thought I should interject.

 

call your dmv and ask them....i know this because i have delt with repairing salvage titles rebuilts etc....and i have always been told its illegal to sell just a clean title frame for a bike...it is legal for a business to sell you a titleless frame....as long as you have reciepts to show where every part came from after the rebuild

maybe your state is different...but i have never seen it be legal

 

I have been working with salvage and rebuilds since 1988 in NH and you have to document what was damaged and repaired on such vehicles. That aside. We are not talking about anything that has to do with the above post, this is not a salvage titled vehicle. Who isn't to say that you had a company sponsored race bike that is 100% legal, but was not able to be registered due to the fact that there was no vin on the frame. You could purchase the frame and title from the above post and have a running bike. I have seen it done with cars also. I am not trying to be a dick, but I have worked in this industry for 15 years and worked directly with Ford back in the late 90's when I crew cheifed a 3 car IMSA team with Mustang Cobra R's. I used to get complete rolling chassis cars that were brand new(no motors) direct from Ford. I had to sign a shitload of paperwork stating my intentions with the cars, because peeps were doing just that. Swapping these cars for clean titled cars. It was legal, but Ford didn't want racers taking advantage of the program that I was involved with.

 

well in michigan and florida it is illegal to sell a frame with a title..maybe your state is different

yeah it's not illegal around here perry mason , but that's for the insite .i see them on e-bay all the time .

i was just trying to look out for you guys...incase you didnt know..my bad...and if you looked at ebays rules you would see they say its illegal to sell a frame witha a title on there....only bill of sales are ok to sell with it...sorry i was just trying to help
