Storm pictures from last night

The tornado that hit Madison's southwest side passed right over my apartment complex - the clounds were low and rotating, just not on the ground yet. Here's some pictures that I took from my balcony.

I've seen LOTS of big trees down around Verona Rd, Whitney Way and Mineral Point. Someone's garage got torn off there house and there were a few buildings flattened near the intersection of Mineral Point Rd and Whitney Way.

Re: Storm pictures from last night

Here's what the National Weather Service had to say. My apartment is 2.5 miles sw of downtown Middleton....

06/23/2004 0840 PM

3 miles SW of Madison, Dane County.

Tornado, reported by trained spotter.

NWS damage survey verified a tornado that started about
835 PM about 3 miles southwest of Middleton... moved east
southeast through southern Madison just north of the
south beltline... and ended about 844 PM at a point about
2.5 miles south of the Capitol square. Estimated winds
about 90 to 100 mph. Several buildings and signs
sustained damage and numerous trees were either uprooted
or damaged.

Re: Storm pictures from last night

A trained spotter? I want that job! wouldn't you think it would be either you saw a tornado or you didn't? Wonder if they have a training school, "trained spotter" might look good on a resume.

Disclaimer: In case anyone took offense to that, It was not meant to be derogatory in any fashion. This is not the opinion of the stuntin crew "VMC" unless they say otherwise. Am I rambling now? somebody tell me to stop I can't stop, words are shooting out of my fingertips. Anyone still reading? OK thats enough I'm spent
