Re: Freaker paint?

yeah i might be getting some body parts for my truck, like roll pan, grill, front bumper cover and mirrors this summer, and I want to detrim my truck too, so i'm probably going to have to talk to you too. But first i need to get the parts. I just have no idea what I'm going to do to the paint under the chrome fenders, cause i'm guessing it looks like crap.

Yea it will probably look crappy under the fender trim. All those things do is give rust a place to start. De- trimming your truck great idea! I hope your not buying some gay import ricer style bumper cover are you?? Me personally, i'd get a chrome smoothie. No bumper bolts no nothing. Just smooth chrome.

What can I do about it looking crappy under that fender trim, is is possible to like repaint that area or should I start looking for some sort of sport fender trim that can be painted. One of my fenders is brand new and had just been repainted so i took off the trim on it, just to see what it looked like, and it looked bad ***. I wouldnt consider the bumper a ricer style, its a replica of the brand new SS bumper cover. I think it looks bad ***. I'm trying to get ride of all the chrome and go pure and clean red all over. I'll see if i can get a pic of that cover.

SS bumper cover is cool. I personally LOVE the green on that truck. You will have to paint the fenders and boxsides when you take your wheel well trim off. But don't get nervous, its not a big deal. Being your truck is red, after you get the bumper cover is a good time to paint everything. The roll pan too. Because red SUCKS *** to match!!

yeah the green is cool cause its not the norm, I was thinking about having the whole truck repainted but with a different red or maybe some sort of metallic coat. But I know nothing more about painting besides for it costing money. Would you want the body parts (mirrors, roll pan, bumper cover, grill) installed before you painted. I'll have to drop in there some time cause I want to throw some numbers around and find out what I want to do, Last winter I just had the whole bottom of the truck from the indent above the trim all the way down repainted and some metal replace to stop the rust. And that was over a grand. But I also had them put a coat of rust protection on under the paint.

Rust protection under the paint?!?!!! WOW!

Just one thing to think of. Changing color means doing door jambs, under the hood, tops of the fenders, lots of extra stuff. BUT you get rid of red!! That is a PLUS!!
