I bought a new bike/ why no VMC crash cages?

I bought a 1997 CBR600f3 this weekend. D&D pipe, stainless braided brake lines, Michelins. Missing the upper and lower fairings and headlight, everything else is great. Doesn't seem to be beaten at all.

I can see why everyone rides these bikes. I did better endos and donuts the first day I had it than the whole time I have had my GSXR. Now I just need to go down two teeth and get some stunt plastic.

Here's my question: why doesn't anyone around here run a cage? They seem popular but I have never seen one. I'm going to build one if there is no reason why not.

Justin

cause cages bust your engine mounts, which would be your FRAME....the right sliders will work better than a cage in my opinion......something always has to give in a crash--just remember that

Just put sliders on it Justin. If you crash a 12 or something hard, a cage is just gonna bend anyway.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to start out with some sliders and see where it goes from there. I don't really want to bend or break the frame.

Anything else I should do with it?

Justin

Re: I bought a new bike/ why no VMC crash cages?

i just got a new 905 cage. looks alot stronger then my old one, better mounting points, and it looks like it will distribute the weight better...cages kinda depend on the bike, i wouldnt stunt a 929 or 954 without one, but the 900rr's can take a lot more damage without one.

f3's also have a diff style frame than the 900rr....I dunno if you were at diamond jims when that dude with the f2...(me) flopped it on its right side from 12 but the vmc slider took most all of it :YEAH ...also the slider points on the f2-f3'2 are lower than on a 900rr....the slider alone will even protect the left side engine cover.....lol.....good luck with trashin it...lmao

Don't f3's have a STEEL frame? If that is the case they will hold up better then the aluminum frames. If you build your own, the more mounting points it has the better it can distribute the weight. Cages are the way to go, they need to be built right.

Re: I bought a new bike/ why no VMC crash cages?

i build it like D-aces do.. have a bar that runs from one slider/mount to other passing through the frame over the head of the motor... i dont know what im talking about but it looked like a good idea
