my p.o.s. RR MOTOR

ok...had to tell you guys this ****..you'll get a good laugh out of it.....the motor i just put in my bike before the last iowa trip was a 919....you know...new motor===sweet!!! well, first of all, 2nd gear goes out of it after about 100 feet down the road....then the clutch started slipping, so i finally got around to replacing the clutch tonight...what a cluster ****----

1. 2 out of the 5 clutch springs were snapped off previously, so i had only 3 springs applying pressure to my clutch
2. there is always an odd sized clutch plate in a 900rr, it goes all the way back towards the motor...this was placed in the middle of the basket
3. the last plate is ALWAYS a friction plate...the DUMBASS that put this clutch together had a metal plate against the inside of the basket...neal can probably figure out how good that would work...metal on metal????

it sometimes amazes me how completely STUPID some people can be when putting together something that SIMPLE

Honda put the 919 motor in both the later 900rrs and the naked bikes, right? I think there are some differences between the 900rr motor and what the naked bikes use beyond just the fuel injection, such as cams, heads, gearing. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

i have heard of the 919 full injection.....not sure youcan just bolt it up onto a stock 919 motor though....

I don't know if the fuel injection would bolt on the 900rr motor. Even if it did, the throttle bodies and the computer stuff might be all wrong to match the old motor. I don't think there would be much of a point to it anyway. I think the motors are the same though, just internal changes to make the naked bike more user friendly and tuned for midrange. I think they are a 5 speed and they have less peak horsepower at a lower rpm. Could be a good source for minty fresh 900rr motors if they work with the carbs and ignition of the 900rr. Maybe the tuning would even be an advantage for low rpm usage as in stunting.

Someone I know has one, I will take a look sometime.
