Opinions on the f2/f3?

I've been looking at f2/f3s for awhile. I am sick of the 95 gsxr. I am thinking f2/f3 for low cost, low parts cost, good parts availibility and overall reliability. I have also noticed they seem to be popular for stunting. A couple people that post here have had them or ride them now.

Are they easy to setup for a 12 bar and cage?
Any major problems I might not know about, like the Yamaha 2nd gear?
How much should I pay for one? I was thinking 1200 for one already stunted or 1500 for one that needs work but isnt beaten.

Please don't tell me to get a 900RR or F4, I don't have the money. I also need to get a kx/cr/yz/rm125 and a trailer before spring.

Anybody got a f2/f3 for sale, any condition under $2000?

Justin

they both are known for haveing shitty cam chain tensioners...other than that they are damn good bikes...gear the **** out of them and you will be able to stunt them no problem

but yeah...i would still buy a 900rr if i were you....they're out there pretty commonly for under 2 grand right now.

I like the 900 too, but I'm already up to $400 a year for insurance on the 750. It's alot more than that for the 900, I checked when Schumacher was selling his. State Farm just goes by displacement but it goes up pretty quick when you get over 750. I can't ride without insurance. I have nothing against anyone that does, it's just not for me cause I'm paranoid.

I'm going to be able to ride a stock f3 over Christmas break, if I like it, I'll probably buy one and sell the gsxr.

Cam chain tensioner isn't too hard to fix. How can you tell if one is on the way out?

Anything to watch out for buying a bike on ebay? There seem to be some ok deals on there, especially for salvage title bikes.

I kinda like that FZR too, but I already have a gsxr750 that looks just like that. I think I like the gsxr better, although I can't argue with the price for the Yamaha.

Another question: What parts are interchangeable on the f2s and f3s? I think I remember Duker having a f2 with flat black f3 plastic.

Do the motors swap?

How about wheels? I know the 92 f2 only fits a 160 rear, do all the f2s, how about the f3s?

400 bucks a year for insurance?? that's cheap as hell...mine was quoted over 3 grand about 2 years ago for my 900rr....

tensioners make some helacious noises when the bike is cold, you can hear **** slapping around on the right side of the motor...when the bike warms up it goes away...make sure the bike is cold when it is started for the first time....ebay does have good deals, but i would be careful about picking a bike up on it...i would want to ride it and hear it first

we have quite a few of them here, love them, easy bikes to work on, to build on...blah blah

you can find 900rr's for cheap. they are also good bikes. insurance for an older 900rr shouldn't be that much. just get liability for it. don't get full coverage.

Forget about the insurance thing, that's my problem. I didn't mean to make that part of the topic. I just need to know more about the f2/f3.

Thanks.

I can vouch for that already... sounds like a friggin tin can getting kicked down the street. I just got mine two weeks ago and am really liking it - BUT that's coming from a 400 Bandit and I don't stunt (yet). So take that for what it's worth.
