one down will make a huge difference, BUT going up on the rear sprocket is easier on the trany(and you should NEVER go any less than a 15 tooth sprocket in the front....too tight of a circumferance on counter shaft) and you won't run out of RPS as quickly.... 1 down in the front is the same as 3 up in the back... that's my .02 cents

hey sloth, go to www.kneedraggers.com

you can get a 44 tooth rear sprocket for 34.99, and its renthal!! thats what i did to my 1000 and its great. trust me on this one, 2 up in the rear is good enough.

if you need help ill walk you through it, its as easy as removing 8 bolts

The front is a 17 tooth and the rear is a 42 tooth stock.

Definetly go 1 down in front....It's the Easiest, Most noticable difference you can make to the bike.
Schiernbeck is THE MAN when it comes to gettin Product Info & Part #'s, and I can order what ever you need, and i'll even hook ya up with the VMC discount through Rock River

Damn guys, thanks for the help!!!

I just have to decide how I wanna go? If going 1 down in the front is hard on the tranny, then maybe I should get like 5 in the back?????

IDK, what do you guys think?

If you want to use your stock chain... I would not recommed any more than 3 up in the rear or 1 down in the front

first, how many miles on the bike, being a 2003 your chain probably is not stretched out enough to accomodate three up in the back, unless you go down one in the front. you can always add links though, or get a new chain, or better yet do a 520 conversion, ive seen them for about 200 for two new sprocket and the chain
