There's alot of R1 haters on here, but that thing is sexy except for the stock exhaust.

 

why do the hate the r1? just out of curiosity...ive ridden 900rr's, 929's 954's, gsxr's, and i just love it compared to the rest of them....

 

Ryan and Dan will go on and on about them being junk. The tranny's are bad according to them. I like em. I had a 02 before.

 

they are junk they handle like ***. the subframe is welded on(thats ignorant) they are hella twitxhy and the tranny's are junk

YA i gotta admit the new R1 is pretty pimp the new FZ6 is pretty tight too....but there still yamahas

 

2002 and newer have bolt on subframes. They really need a steering dampener to handle great.

yeah i have 10000 miles on my yamaha and i dont know if they changed the tranny for 02, but it still works great, and yeah, it does have a bolt on subframe, the engine vibrates like a bitch at higher r's and i hate that, i would like a smoother motor. Then theres the "R1 tick", the obnoxious ticking noise at certain r's...yamaha tends to deny the existence of this though....i have noticed not many people stunt it...seems the 900rr wins in that department...

oh on a different topic, this chick that rides up here is going to ride with some people from janesville...was thinking of heading down with her....Shep is the scene there as bad as you say as far as cops harrassing you and such???

 

yamaha's have shitty trannies, i blew my first tranny out on a yzf600r......very poor design, only 3 **** instead of honda's 5.....

busted---j-town blows the big one, cops suck and nobody ever rides anymore......

 

hey ryan they changed that in 02 on the R1s(i Believe) and the 03 R6s...

THAT BIKE IS SWEEEEEEEEET!!!!... the undertail is ****ing awesome!!! everybike should and i bet will have undertail!! the taillight is kinda wierd... liked the "knight rider" style of the 02 better...

Does anyone know of the yamaha M1 streetbike... a friend was talking about it on another board and wondering if anyone knew anything else about it!

 

Marty is correct on the tranny updates. Yes, I like the looks of the '04, and that whole 20 valve design. But any R1 I have ridden in the past has handled like dog ****. Maybe the '04 will be better though, I dunno.

 

i heard the new R1 is smaller in size then the previous.... 178 horsepower at the crank... should be intresting... might have to trade..
