Update on Ryan 10/25
Just an update on Ryan....
I have been fortunate to spend time with Ryan almost everyday since he has been moved to Mercy Hospital. I love having him closer to home and one more step closer to going home soon. Today Ryan has a pretty busy line up planned with therapy, meetings and a home evaluation. That means Ryan gets to go home for awhile today to see how he gets around the house and just to see how he does in general being out of the hospital. This is a very exciting step for Ryan...I hope he does well today and I hope they give him a date on when he gets to go home. It was great to see him walking last night and his humor is coming through even more so. We talk about the accident and he makes jokes about trying to swim and having a bionic leg. He has this amazing strength and determination that shines through and gives me the hope of knowing that Ryan will overcome any obstacle that may come within his way. His short term memory is improving daily but there are times he still struggles with trying to remember from day to day. It frustrates him not being able to remember. He is thankful to have great friends and has shared his gratitude with everyone that has come up to see him. Emotionally he is starting to deal with his accident and this may take time. Sometimes emotional healing takes longer than the physical healing so Ryan will need the continue support of family and friends especially when he does return home for good. I hope this has helped those that have questioned how Ryan has been doing...I will update again soon.
