Funny you ask about jackets and gear, I spent the past six years in third world countries, and being around the equator it was always hot and motorcycles are also the main form of transport, and I can honestly say I never seen somebody wear a jacket, let alone leather pants, and maybe like out of 100 bikes in a day going past our shop, like two would have helmets on. I admit that I rode without a lid several times, but I was one of the exceptions because when my dad was in town I'd wear a helmet with a dark visor cuz my dad is popular and Africa is like a big family they think they are looking out for you by telling your people everything.
Looking back on that, I realised where I lived was very flat, there were no twisties, so no draggers, and also not much in stunters, i never knew about a 12 o'clock wheelie till I came to THIS site in Jan of 2003 (didnt stick around till August), hell there was another master mechanic in a shop a few miles away that we take our stuff to that we can't figure out
and he could ride BP wheelies, they even put him in a local music video and we thought he was the stuff! I'm pretty sure that's what attracted me to stunts even though I didn't know what they were at the time. haha memories it's another world out there

Does he still live there right now?
I can see people further south not wearing jackets because of the heat. There were times last year when I was riding to work in rush hour traffic that I wished I didn't have my jacket on! And that's only here in Canada so imagine further down south. But to go as far as not wearing a lid... I don't think I could do it.
