I lost a friend lastnight
a good man and a good soldier, Pfc Mora was a happy go lucky, spur of the moment kind of guy.... He loved life, being a soldier, and near beer...
and he loved his girl.. a few days ago, he was ambushed in najaf, and his humvee rolled over. Mora was crushed.. he died in the hospital in greenzone baghdad, just lastnight... he will be missed... All who are still alive are blessed...

I think when a person becomes a soldier, everyone else stops seeing them as a person. They forget that these people have feelings and emotions, such as compassion, loyalty, and love. And that to me is what truly keeps these men and women going.
No one has ever forced anyone to join the military. These men and women VOLUNTEER on their own free will to join and serve the country they love. And to them, USA is not just about our laws, its about our people, our families, our values, our dislikes....everything that makes this country a country. It's that LOVE that drives them. It's that LOVE that keeps them going.
And it's because they feel so strongly about it, that it's really the commrades and the teamworkers and friends that hurt the most when one of thier soldiers die. Sure, their families are hurting, dont get me wrong, but the soldiers are the ones that saw this person every single day for such a period of time that they became blood. They became family.
The real sad thing is, that it takes a death for people to start noticing what's really going on. It's sad to see that someone has to die in order to get this world's attention. I'm not just talking about Mora, but all and everyone that's ever had to die to get us to really open our eyes.
We need to be here for each other always, not just in a time of crisis. Jason, My sincerest apologies for what you're having to feel for your friend, and all other of your friends that may have died. It's a heavy burden to carry, and hopefully, you're not carrying it alone.
I hope all my ramblings made sense....It's 1:50AM here, and I'm quite half asleep. I think I went from one thought right into another. But still related I hope. Anyhow, I hope that you, Jason, are doing well, and keep yourself well, and that maybe when you DO return to NM I can meet you cuz you seem very cool.
To everyone else, Thank you for showing your respects to Jason, and to Mora and his loved ones.

And that just keeps me back. You and everyone including the women have the biggest Cajones I've ever known for being as BRAVE as you are to be doing what you're doing. I'm so scared to death to join. I dont think that will change. But I can be as brave as I can here and do all that I can to support you from here. The other thing you sent out about the average soldier was great. It really makes people realize what you go through.

You said that NO ONE has EVER been forced to join the military. By making this statement, you lead readers to believe that, in the entire history of the world, every single soldier has volunteered upon thier own free-will, which is, needless to say, incorrect.
But since you wrote it at 2 in the morn, we'll go ahead and let that slide.
