Show Me Your Battle Wounds
Ok, I'm sure this has been done before, but I wanna know: How bad was your worst crash? What happened and do you have photos? Do Tell!
I guess I'll go ahead and start. I've already written about it so here's an entry from my myspace blog with my photos, it may not be nearly as bad as most, but I really haven't had any HUGE wrecks *knock on wood*....Enjoy!
1:56 PM - ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET!!!!
For those who think they are "just screwing around" and dont think they need a helmet, THINK AGAIN! I am paying the price as a result of my own stupidity. These pictures were taken yesterday after I attempted a stoppie and flew headfirst over the handlebars and ate a lot of dirt!!!!! Keep in mind I WAS RIDING AN 80!!!!! I am lucky enough that I am here today able to walk instead of the alternate of being completely paralyzed from snapping my neck. Click on the links below for some reality of stupidity.

Be smart, dont ever think your too good for a helmet. -Tara
Oh, and the links ARE there, but I cant even see them on my screen, so I put dots after each link.

Tried to change the color of your links....not working...weird.
Anywho, glad your gonna be ok. **** happens fast and when you least expect it. 2 weeks ago I was in a seat stander and the bike just died and I got tossed, mostly went over the front, but caught my knee on the upper stay. Wasn't a bad fall, just an exapmle of something that can happen when you least expected it.
Worse wreck is probably 4 years ago at the old Elkton MVA spot. I was on my 929 and jumped to ride switchback (sitting on the tank backwards). The bars all of a sudden started to move and next thing I was in a tank slapper with no way to steady the bike. Thankfully I had my body armor on and I didn't get a scratch, but I landed flat on my back and slammed my head on the ground. Pretty sure I got knocked out. Everyone said I just laid there with my hand in the air like I was signaling I was ok. Also I supposedly rode my bike again a little while later after it happened. I don't remember any of it. Don't remember ridng there for the most part that day, don't remember much about the fact that we had ridden 1/2 the day at another spot in Wilmington. Wasn't until I was almost home that I started realizing where I was and that I had wrecked that day. Needless to say I had a splitting headache for a couple days from a real good concussion.
It wasn't bloody, I didn't break anything, but it really was bad and could have been much worse. Again, just riding switchback, sure glad I had all my gear on that day!

Re: Show Me Your Battle Wounds
Well, here's my list from 1 day shy of a year today.
Looped out in the lot.
Being that I am not a ninja, the following took place.
Shattered tibia. Bottom bone on the right is the fibula... all those other pieces should be 1 bone... birds eye view looking at a ct-scan.

Side view, single frame of the ct-scan... It was a wicked break. Split in half down the middle, sheered off behind the knee, and the top completely broke off. eek. Kinda quit counting, but if I advance the ct scan frame-by-frame and label the pieces... I get to about 20 or so.

Here's after the surgery... still have the hardware in there today... 2 long plates on either side... (the longer one is about 9" for scale...) and 11 screws kinda holding all the fragments in place.

This is the area on my leg that now has no feeling... well, if I jam into something like my pegs or the edge of my night stand I can kinda feel it at the bone. Weird...
Anyways, couldn't sleep one night, so took a thumb tack to see where I couldn't feel... and kinda drew an outline lol. Looks like Australia.

Separated my shoulder... think I damaged some ligaments that are supposed to hold it in place...

And lastly... I had a 4" fracture on my pelvis directly behind the femur.. but I don't have a good pic of that one... sorry.
Yeah, crashing sucks!

(If I could do it all over again... I'd be a ninja.)

Re: Show Me Your Battle Wounds
I would swear that was my shoulder if you didnt tell me otherwise.
Was cutting through traffic last year when a car changed lanes and I stoppied and flew over the bars at about 20-30 and landed on the rear windshield of the car with my shoulder. Rode the back of her trunk for a sec till she floored it and I slid off straight on my back.
I also DeGloved my leg from the knee down 4 years ago when I hit a gaurdrail at a 45 degree angle.
If you are wondering what degloving is its when all the skin and muscle get shredded off. My whole **** was down by my foot.
Still nothing brocken yet. Knock on wood

And I think I read that story about the jump to 50/50 kill switch enguage before! Sounded gnarly.
I'm just learning how to get in and out of hi-chair just rolling... bumped the kill switch the other day doing it... but was practicing with the clutch in just in case. Saved my ***.

Re: Show Me Your Battle Wounds

Oh, and the links ARE there, but I cant even see them on my screen, so I put dots after each link.
