So I picked this up a couple weeks ago, put it in the basement and just now am starting to get it think about setting it up. This will be my new stunt piece for this year.
I am getting my cage, upper brace, 12 bar, HB, sprockets, etc installed soon, no questions about that. I need a stock can, this D&D is just obnoxious! I've been looking through the 636 pictures thread looking for ideas, nothing yet.....
Not sure if I even wanna change the color. It's flat black, and suprisingly those that see it like that color, at first I thought it was too blah but it's growing on me. I had to pick up a tail so I threw that on just to get it on there, now I can picture it and think it out.

So, colors...what do you think?
Kawi colors? Some combination of Kawi Green? That sweet blue color they used on these? I love silver and 929 is silver, but there are so many silver 636s out there? Something a bit more crazy? Let it be as is? Let it be, but do the wheels green too?

whatever it is don't paint it pink or put fur on it. if you do im gonna torch it one day at the riding spot. i recommend dirty camo like my 929 when you 1st met me. here's a pic if you don't remember.

 

Yep I remember, got way to post up an old picture.

I actually love camo paint schemes. Just not sure with what colors I'd want to try and pul it off with. The standard green/brown/black is cool but there are other colors I'd consider too.

And no, no pink and no fur. That just don't work for me.

 

mine is gonna look like this again. i like krylon semi flat because it still shines and looks really smooth do the wheels bright green and then get green kawi stickers to put on the black farings and tank

 

krylon sells a camo set which is what i used for the 929, it's green, tan, black, and brown.

 

i have a ton of camo left over from my old gixxer seats!

 

blue camo......i think i still have some around that you gave me

 

Whaduya think of these colors....

This one but not with the white and black stripes on the side fairings...just all green. Love the old green and purple ZX7s!






Or this one, green with silver in some areas...





Or maybe combine the two.... green/purple from the top ZX7 colors but with silver in the insert/recessed areas and on the front of the upper like on the second bike.

Yeah man, I had ZX9s that had tails like that. Things are so much smaller and lighter nowadays.
I really love the mid 90's Kawi green. It was a little darker, deeper....a little less neon looking but it still stands out!
Green and purple is perty sweet IMO.:YEAH


PS. I love that silver on your 636, it looks alot like my 929 but like I said, I see so many silver 636s around here, looking for something a little bit different at least.

 

thats an 01 7r with the purple tail from way back in 96. im a big 7r fan. as far as im concerned its the best looking asian bike ever. def the best of my 3 bikes

 

Yep, it's an 01.

I love the old purple tails, that guy gave his newer 7 an old school look with just changing the tail. That bike went unchanged for like 6 years.
I have ridin an '01, 03, 05, 06, and 2001 and man they were heavy but SOLID on the streets and in the turns.

 

if you like greens and purple.. you should make that bike like the hulk...
like the bike a dark blackberry with green rims...or devil violet and green rims

 

i think im gonna do mine semi flat black and that burnt copper color.. i think the stock flat newer kawi z1000 colors are bad *** too

That's the problem!!!
You need to get the word FAST out of your vocabulary. You'll never get them parking lot tricks down with that kind of thinking!

P.S. the best thing about yamaha street bikes is the color, besides that they are crap. That's why that have such good paint colors. You can paint a terd yamaha blue, it's still a terd.
